Hello
I’m Barbora (Bára / Barča)
I have Slavic roots, a wild heart, and I’ve called the Isle of Skye home for the past decade.
I thrive when I am holding space for others to meet their depths and come home to their bodies. I am not afraid of discomfort, as that is often where our growth has the most potential.
My path has been anything but linear. I’ve lived many versions of myself - studying finance, working as a housekeeper, milking cows in Belize, and learning about coffee from farmers across Guatemala and Costa Rica. Every single experience added to the lens through which I see life, teaching me by direct experience rather than a script. Eventually, I asked myself what I truly wanted to be doing if I could do anything in the world.
Here we are. The more I trust my body, the better my life gets.

My Story
I was disconnected from my body majority of my life, in fact I felt like I didn't have a life before. The dissociation from my action and my existence was astonishing but I know this is not a unique experience. Most of my personal growth and coming back to myself started when I was seriously questioning my life and who I am, at the time when I was studying University that wasn't aligned with my core values, or when I was questioning my working life after pandemic hit some years ago.
Although I don't have an answer that would neatly put me into description of who I am, I know that I can allow myself to experience all the different facets of who I am at a given moment.
My relationship with my body became one of my most catalysing and rewarding journeys. As a growing child I was diagnosed with scoliosis. It had a massive impact, landing me right in the middle of an adult structure obsessed with how best to "fix" my not-so-desirable spine. There were fear-based predictions that I wouldn't be able to have children, that I would likely end up in a wheelchair, and the reality of wearing a hard plastic brace for years that to my nervous system felt like a literal prison and reminder that there is something deeply wrong with me. None of it sat well with me as a teenager. After I left home, I started my own research into the spine, somatic healing, the nervous system and understanding our bodies intelligence.
After some years of studying, reading books, practicing yoga and learning about my physical vessel something changed, you would never think I went through something like this. I do not see myself broken, or "different" anymore. I still have the scoliosis, it did not magically disappear, but I no longer carry physical or mental suffering around it. While I've never gone back to measure the exact degrees on an X-ray, my body feels reclaimed to me.
This experience also taught me, that bodywork helps me to understand things my mind can't, through experiencing bodywork I am practicing deeply attuned to the body. I have only understood the impact the plastic prison had on me after years and years of getting back to my body and feeling the sensation in my own body, nothing that can be explained to me rationally.
If you read so far, thank you for taking your time to learn part of my story, I believe we all have something similar to share. Whatever you bring to the table, I am here for it.
